There's a unique joy in creating something special with your own two hands, especially when it's meant for someone dear. Recently, my inspiration sparked to craft a one-of-a-kind bookmark for my daughter – a little piece of art to accompany her on her literary journeys, infused with both vibrant energy and heartfelt sentiment.
The process began with the fluid dance of watercolors. On one side, I let the colors mingle and bloom into concentric, mandala-like circles. I envisioned this side as a burst of visual energy, a little spark of joy to greet her every time she opens her book. To add a touch of magic and focus, I carefully placed tiny crystals at the heart of each circle.
For the reverse, I sought a more serene and personal touch. A calming gradient of soft yellow melting into tranquil blue became the canvas for delicate, hand-drawn botanical elements and two simple yet profound messages: "BE KIND BE BRIGHT BE you" and "love you." These words are little reminders I hope will resonate with her as she delves into different worlds.
Bringing both sides together with a touch of enchantment was the application of stickles glitter glue. This not only added a delightful shimmer that catches the light, giving the bookmark a whimsical feel, but it also acts as a subtle sealant for the watercolor and ink. It’s amazing how a little sparkle can elevate a handmade piece!
This project wasn't just about creating a functional item; it was about crafting a tangible expression of love. It’s a gift that combines the joy of handmade artistry with a personal message meant just for her. The process itself was incredibly rewarding, from the initial wash of color to the final, glittering touch.
